My name is AJ Bocchini. I’m 34 years old, a high school coach in Mequon, Wisconsin, and a proud supporter of Mr. Bob’s Under the Bridge.
I was born with cerebral palsy, so I get around using a wheelchair and rely on the county’s Shared Ride program, which helps make transportation more accessible. While living about 45 minutes from my family can be challenging at times, being involved in local outreach programs—especially Mr. Bob’s Under the Bridge—has given me a strong sense of independence and confidence, while also allowing my parents the freedom to live their lives knowing I’m supported.
What makes Mr. Bob’s Under the Bridge so special is the people and the culture of compassion that surrounds it. Every time I see Bob, he greets me with a smile and a genuine desire to connect. He is incredibly accepting and accommodating, not just to me, but to everyone he encounters. Bob truly represents what we should all strive to be—caring, compassionate, and understanding of others, including those living with disabilities.
No matter how much time has passed—whether it’s six weeks, six months, or even longer—when I return, it feels like no time has gone by at all. That’s what makes Mr. Bob’s Under the Bridge different. It’s not just an outreach—it’s a family. And at Mr. Bob’s, everyone is welcomed, valued, and remembered.
I’m incredibly grateful to be part of something so meaningful.
